Smallest and Fattest Country in the World

~Nauru, Smallest and Fattest Country in the World~
the Republic of Nauru and formerly known as Pleasant Island, is an island country in Micronesia in the South Pacific.  The Republic of Nauru is both the smallest and fattest independent country in the world. This potato-shaped island nation has a total land area of 8.1 square miles. By car, one can circle the whole country in less than 20 minutes. With an estimated population of less than 10,000 in 2010, 95% are overweight and 85% of men are considered clinically obese. This is due to the fatty and processed food that was imported to the country that started when the standard of living began to take off due to mining and importing of phosphate that began in the early 1900′s.

Natural Hot Spring

Pamukkale, 19 km (12 miles) north of Denizli, is Turkey's foremost mineral-bath spa because of its natural beauty: hot calcium-laden waters spring from the earth and cascade over a cliff. As they cool they form dramatic travertines of hard, brilliantly white calcium that form pools.

Pamukkale has been used as a spa since the second century BC.

Natural phenomenon

Natural phenomenon: Glowing blue water washes up on a beach in Vaadhoo, one of the Raa Atoll islands in the Maldives. The result of a chemical reaction called bioluminescence, it occurs when a micro-organism in sea water is disturbed by oxygen

Although a rare sight on a shoreline, the phenomenon is more commonly seen at sea in the wake of ships that stir up the oxygen in the sea, which causes the bioluminescent bacteria to glow.
Many undersea organisms ‘glow’, especially creatures that live at depths where light from the surface is less likely to penetrate.
The night-time glow is a side-effect of blooming red algae, known as red tide, which can turn entire beaches scarlet and murky during the day.

 Fantastic Dark Hedges

Photo: Located in the Giant Forest of the National Park in United States, this tree that is known as the German Sherman (funnily enough considering that it is in the US) is more than 250 feet tall and is like 2500 years old! The largest branch of this tree was broken in 2006 but that did not change the title of the tree as the largest tree in the world! The circumference of the base of the tree trunk is an amazing 102 feet! Seeing is believing in this case!
